AI-driven conversational tools like Claude Desktop and Copilot are now compatible with Netwrix Access Analyzer through integration with the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Netwrix – a cybersecurity provider specializing in protecting data and identities – has released a free, open-source MCP server integration specifically for Access Analyzer.
This integration allows organizations to gain timely, in-depth insights into data security by enabling AI assistants to interact with the collected data. With this capability, security teams can use plain language to ask questions such as “Who has unauthorized access to credit card information?” or “Which accounts are stale but still active?” and receive real-time answers. This eliminates the need to access dashboards or manually craft complex queries.
Jeff Warren, Chief Product Officer at Netwrix, highlighted that the integration with MCP-compatible AI tools represents an initial step in the company’s larger strategy to embed AI across its portfolio. According to the current roadmap, MCP support will be extended to solutions such as Netwrix Privilege Secure and Netwrix Threat Manager. This development is expected to enhance key functionalities in privileged access management (PAM) and identity threat detection and response (ITDR). The overarching objective is to empower customers to extract value from Netwrix solutions without requiring in-depth knowledge of user interfaces or the structural complexity of backend databases.
Advantages for Cybersecurity Teams:
- Accelerated insights. The MCP server for Access Analyzer encapsulates common use cases, enabling faster access to meaningful data insights.
- Effortless integration. Acting as a bridge, the MCP server simplifies connectivity between Netwrix products and third-party platforms, eliminating the complexity of traditional point-to-point integration.
- Enhanced data protection. AI-powered identification of risks and suggested remediations allows existing security teams to boost productivity and effectively safeguard expanding data environments.
MCP is an open protocol that enables AI assistants to connect with enterprise applications and retrieve answers – without the need for custom-built integrations. Organizations retain complete authority over the specific data made accessible to the Netwrix MCP server. Furthermore, every AI-initiated query can be recorded and reviewed, ensuring alignment with compliance standards and promoting operational transparency.
The MCP server integration is provided at no extra cost to all Netwrix Access Analyzer users. Detailed setup instructions are publicly available on GitHub.
