Introduction
The cybersecurity software market faces new challenges but continues to grow globally and Ukraine is not an exception.
We will focus on the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) segment but keep in mind that the mainstream driver in data protection is the helicopter view—security everywhere. It’s no longer just DLP, but an approach that combines data classification, Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), identity management, and other solutions to deliver consistent visibility and sensitive data control. This is well grounded because of the rising number of cyberattacks, hybrid environments, and employment patterns.
Let’s check some current facts and forecasts about such a segment as Data Loss Prevention. We will look at both sides—global and local.
Market Overview
The global DLP market stands at USD 35.38 billion in 2025 and will grow, according to analysis by Mordor Intelligence. The leaders of the market by share are the USA and China.
That’s quite a significant figure, while other reports from previous years show much lower numbers. But let’s consider that recent years have added momentum to the field of cybersecurity: wars, the rapid development of AI, growth in the number and the quality of cyberattacks, the emergence of new types of attacks, massive personally identifiable data leaks, and huge fines under GDPR. So, the calculations no longer seem unrealistic.
As for the local market
The Ukrainian cybersecurity market share from the global one is about 0.07%, with 8.5% growth per year forecasted until 2029. That number is lower than the previous level—for the last 8 years, year-to-year growth rate was 18%.
The figures for data security software stand at USD 3 million for 2024 (at CoreWin, we think that it’s understated but still let’s stick to official analytical data) with an 11% growth rate.
The main factor for both growth and decline in recent years in Ukraine was the war.
The constant increase in cyberattacks from russia, an almost 100% increase in losses suffered by Ukrainians because of cybercrimes, financial aid from partners to strengthen cybersecurity, and the need to respond here and now are all factors contributing to growth.
However, the war has also caused the outflow of skilled personnel, the closure or significant reduction of many businesses, and partners’ aid is not systemic and creates dependency (although it is very good that it exists at all). So, the growth of the market will slow down.
Global vertical distribution:
- 72.5% = BFSI (banking, financial services, and insurance)
- 27.5% = others, with main players in IT & telecom, healthcare, and government
The fastest-growing vertical globally is manufacturing, with a 21.7% year-to-year growth rate, mostly due to intellectual property protection.
Type of deployment
Cloud delivery provides a single management console and unified policy enforcement, while on-premise is still the best choice for regulated verticals (like defence) or critical infrastructure.
Cloud-based deployment models, according to all reports, show continuous growth and now have 67.3% of global market share, expected to sustain a 22.1% growth rate until 2030. The main factor is the hybrid-work model with many cloud tools for data storage, where on-site solutions can’t offer the same level of visibility.
In Ukraine, we don’t have exact numbers but it can’t be said for sure that the number of cloud-based DLP solutions is very low and dropped a lot after the start of the full-scale invasion. On-premises secured perimeters for sensitive data are the main demand.
Market Trends
Endpoint DLP leads
Among the types of DLP, the most popular one is the endpoint DLP. The share is almost 50% and growing. The device-centric approach is driven by BYOD, the hybrid work landscape, as well as the rise of AI usage. These factors determine that data protection during user activity at the endpoint is driving changes in DLP and boosting the development of the industry.
Network DLP remains the best option for air-gapped network environments and is relevant if such data protection is needed. Cloud (storage) DLP is the smallest part and is inherently linked to the main cloud providers, which leads to a set of technological limitations.
BI for DLP
BI analysts work with data, and leak protection extends to them as well. But if you integrate DLP with BI specifically for data protection reports, you can analyze data usage trends, gain a broader view of data flows and get real-time insights. IT analysis based on DLP reports and statistical data can open a new level of data protection decision-making.
As always, a competitive environment stimulates development
The data protection market is highly competitive, and growing demand for cyber protection is forcing suppliers to seek additional functionality that will satisfy broader customer needs. Business demands for a comprehensive approach to data protection are driving vendors to:
- aggregate (acquire if needed) products into comprehensive solutions, for example, by adding data classifiers or DSPM solutions;
- comply with zero-trust and other modern cybersecurity frameworks;
- meet compliance requirements.
Challenges
The use of AI in data protection products is no longer a prediction but a reality. The challenge for vendors is to strike the right balance—providing customers with the total control that security teams want without taking away users’ ability to perform their daily tasks seamlessly and smoothly.
Data sources are becoming more complex (a combination of environments), but simplicity remains a requirement:
- be effective for security teams that don’t want to manage yet another heavy tool
- ensure minimal impact on performance
- ensure high accuracy in detecting sensitive data without unmanageable noise
The number and quality of attacks (especially with the advent of widespread AI use) are growing. Now, attackers don’t even need to know how to write code—phishing emails and deepfakes have reached a whole new level of quality. Some details about the last cases of AI impact on phishing campaigns you can check here.
Outlook for 2025–2030
The analytical estimates that are used in this article come to an agreement that the global DLP solutions market will grow significantly over the next five years. The figures are staggering—threefold.
The Mordor Intelligence report provides a figure of USD 94.09 billion by 2030.
The combination of AI for threat detection, data visibility, and security in a hybrid environment, along with intelligent rapid automation that does not require significant effort from administrators—these are currently the main drivers shaping the future of DLP.
Plus, keep in mind that data protection is not just DLP—it is a combination of processes, technologies, and people that comes together as a multi-layered security framework globally.
